About Us
Friends of the Forest Inc. are a creative & collaborative group that supports individuals & like-minded organisations in caring for their local environments in respectful & mutually supportive networks.
This group of people originated from the Save Your Steve Irwin Way Forest campaign, which helped to secure the Mooloolah River National Park on the Sunshine Coast. This was a result of the efforts of group members & supporters who contributed in defence of this critically endangered forest which was under threat of a major road development which would have impacted on over 100ha.
This group of people were awarded the Healthy Land & Water Community Stewardship award in 2017 and the Environmental Contributor of the Year award at the Caloundra Electorate Community Awards in 2018. "We wish to inspire others to take up the responsibility of protecting our natural environment & to help bring about a more sustainable way of living in harmony with nature via education, personal interaction & involvement in conservation efforts. We welcome anyone who wishes to join us in our efforts."
Friends of the Forest Inc. engages in ecological stewardship with individuals & community organisations by working together to protect & establish thriving habitats for our native flora & fauna.
