Somerset Regional Council Free Native Tree Giveaway

The Kilcoy Free Tree Giveaway event organised by Somerset Regional Council was held on Saturday 16th November 2024.

We were honoured to have our Friends of the Forest information stall there & to have had the opportunity for productive conversations & provide information on native plants and animals.

Hundreds of people attended throughout the morning despite the pouring weather.

The Lions Club of Kilcoy had free hot sausages and cold drinks going from 8am. There were many smiling faces & the opportunity to catch up with neighbours & friends.

Martin Fingland's entertaining live wildlife show fascinated both adults & children & a Griffith Uni Koala educator also had koala food trees to give away.

It was an exciting & fun morning of community networking & neighbourhood connections.

We are very thankful that our regional council supports our native ecosystems by providing 10 to 20 free trees for residents to plant on their properties in support of our native flora & fauna.

Our NRM officer Darren McPherson as always is outstanding in his role & we are thankful for his support of our shared aims.
